Still Looking for a New Host

I'm not sure if you remember but a few weeks ago my Livin' With Me blog was out. It was out when I got up on Sunday morning. Rich tried to contact the hosting company several times during the day through email and with phone calls. There was never a response. On Monday morning my site was still out. Rich still couldn't reach our hosting company. Fortunately he had just backed up my site on the Friday before and he was able to move my site to a new host. I lost a couple of posts, but since I had saved them on my computer I didn't have to re-write anything.

So, now Livin' With Me is on a new host. It's the same host I use for Our Crafts ~N~ Things and for my new Our Happy Happenings. And while it is better, it is still not good. Every once in a while my sites will go out for a minute or so. Then they are right back on. But that isn't good enough for me. If a new visitor was trying to access one of my blogs during the quick outage I would probably lose that visitor.

I've been looking at several hosting options. Reading reviews and seeing what others have to say about their hosting companies and how they are working out for them.

Today I was looking at A Small Orange Web Hosting. They have several different hosting plans to meet your needs. You can get a Tiny Plan that will only cost you $25 per year all the way up to a Super Plan that will cost your $30 per month, with several other options in between. If you are looking for a new host for your website you should stop by and see what A Small Orange has to offer you.

Memorial Day Plans?

What are your plans for this Memorial Day weekend? We usually stay home and start our planting this weekend and that's what we plan to do this year too.

Is anyone going out of town? I've read on several blogs that people who usually travel this weekend are staying home because gas is just too expensive. Has the price of gas changed your Memorial Day plans?

Make Your College Search Easier

Remember back when you were in high school and it was time to start looking for a college to attend? Do you remember the tools you used to do your college search? Brochures and word of mouth are the only things I can remember using.

High school students today have an amazing tool in front of them for their college searching... it's called the Internet. There is this site called myUsearch and it provides the prospective college students with a questionnaire. After filling out the questionnaire myUsearch will narrow down the college choices to ones that match the students needs. What a time-saver that would be! And you know what else- myUsearch is free!

Upcoming Changes

I'm going to be making some changes here with this blog. I wanted to warn you ahead of time so you wouldn't be too shocked the next time you come back.

First of all, I started my new blog Our Happy Happenings where I am posting all of my daily memes. I had originally planned to stop using this blog, but I just can't do that. It would be too sad and lonely for the original Our Happy Happenings if I did that. But, it seems a little silly to have two blogs with the same name. So, I am going to be changing the name of this one. I've been using this blog to post interesting tidbits of information that I find or to post about things going on in the news that I think are interesting, funny or weird. So, I'm going to come up with a name that makes a bit more sense with the new focus I have for this blog. I'm open to suggestions if you have any!

I'm also going to change the look of my blog. I feel like it's looking a little cluttered here and not as organized as I like it to be. So, the look as well as the template I am using will be changing.

All that said, I'm just warning you- the next time you come back you might find a different look and a different name, but it's still me!

Father's Day Will Be Here Soon!

Do you have any idea what to get your dad for Father's Day this year? Father's Day will be here in less than a month. I always have a hard time figuring out what to get my dad every year. So, I've been doing a little searching on the Internet to try to find some ideas. Today I saw something I think he might like at pexagontech.com. They will create Personalized flash drives for you. You can get both sides of the flash drive engraved. And, the engraving is free! Plus it will be shipped to you within three business days. It's free and it's fast. Best of all, they look great and it's an idea I think most dads would love!

The Price of Gas

So, who wants to complain about the price of gas? I think pretty much everyone, everywhere has been complaining about this recently. I've seen other blogs where this has been discussed. And then I've seen people from other countries leaving comments about how $4.00 per gallon sounds pretty good. So, I did a little looking around to see how much gas costs around the world. On Wikipedia I was able to find average gas prices from around the world. All of the prices are from April or May 2008.

The most expensive was Sierra Leone at $18.42 per gallon. Can you even imagine paying that? No one else even comes close to that price. The next highest prices I found were:

Turkey- $10.13
Eritrea- $9.58
Germany- $8.63
Belgium (Brussels)- $8.44
France-$8.07
Finland- $7.98

And the cheapest:

Kuwait (Kuwait City)-$0.78
Saudi Arabia (Riyadh)-$0.45
Iran-$0.41
Nigeria (Lagos)-$0.38
Venezuela (Caracas)- $0.17

So, if I had to fill up my 14 gallon tank in Turkey it would cost me $141.82.

If I was filling up in Venezuela it would cost me $2.38.

Gift Ideas

It's that time of year when we need gift ideas for the hard to buy for occasions. Father's Day is coming and I don't know about you- but I never know what to get for my dad for Father's Day. It's also graduation time of year. I don't know anyone graduating this year, but it's always hard to try to figure out what to get for the high school or college graduate.

So, today I was looking at Giftpens.com and they have some perfect gifts for these hard to buy for occasions. When you search their site you will be able to browse by occasion, product, brand or price. You'll be able to find lots of great gift ideas. For example you can get AT Cross Gift pens - personliazed for free.

So, if you're looking for a gift idea for that hard to buy for person or occasion be sure to check out Giftpens.com.

Toddler Fun

I am looking for some good toddler activities to do with Hailey. I have a couple of websites and books that I use to find activities. For the most part things seem to be more on a preschool level though- ages 3 and up. Most of the time I can just change the activity a little to put it on her level. But, I'm wondering if anyone has found any great books or sites specifically geared towards toddler activities.
